Standard Size of a 3-Bedroom Bungalow in Nigeria
Most 3-bedroom bungalows in Nigeria are between 90 to 130 square meters (about 45ft x 55ft). This usually includes:
- 3 bedrooms
- 1 sitting room
- Kitchen, toilets/bathrooms
- Veranda
For this calculation, we will use a standard 100 sqm bungalow as example.
Blocks Needed - Full Breakdown
We will calculate using 9-inch blocks for external walls and foundation and 6-inch blocks for internal partition walls - which is the standard practice.
1. Foundation (Substructure) - Up to DPC Level
This is the most critical part. You must use solid blocks.
- Perimeter and internal foundation walls: ~120 linear meters
- Average foundation height (2-3 courses below + 2 courses above ground): ~5 courses
- Total blocks for foundation: ~2,800 to 3,200 solid 9-inch blocks
2. Superstructure (Walls Above DPC)
This is from DPC level to roof level (about 3 meters high / ~12-13 courses).
- External walls (9-inch hollow): ~3,500 blocks
- Internal partition walls (6-inch hollow): ~1,800 blocks
- Total blocks for superstructure: ~5,300 blocks
3. Fence (If you have 100ft x 100ft plot)
Many people forget fence blocks in budget.
- Standard fence height: 6ft + foundation (about 8 courses)
- Perimeter: ~120 linear meters
- Total blocks for fence: ~2,500 to 3,000 9-inch blocks
